Why Are Foxit PDF Editor Preferences Greyed Out?

What is the cause for this issue?

The most possible reason is that the user installed Foxit PDF Editor/Foxit PDF Reader by using a custom installer which is made by Foxit Customization Wizard (short as FCW) tool and the custom installer has disabled these settings.

How to check if the user used a custom installer?For Windows

In the user's device, please check if following file exists in the installation directory of Foxit PDF Editor/Foxit PDF Reader:

Product Full path of the specific file
Foxit PDF Editor C:\Program Files (x86)\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Editor\ProfStore\ProfStore.xml
Foxit PDF Reader C:\Program Files (x86)\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Reader\ProfStore\ProfStore.xml

If the specific file exists, that means user indeed used a custom installer to install Foxit PDF Editor/Foxit PDF Reader.

If the user used a custom installer before, then how to make these settings in Preferences selectable?

Steps:

  1. Contact the provider of the custom installer and ask the provider to re-make a new custom installer which enables specific settings.
    Or download the original installer from Foxit website.
  2. Uninstall Foxit PDF Editor/Foxit PDF Reader. Then re-install it with the new custom installer (which enables specific settings) or the original installer (downloaded from Foxit website).
