Troubleshooting "An Unexpected Error Occurred While Printing" in Foxit PDF Editor (MacOS)

When attempting to print a PDF from Foxit PDF Editor on MacOS, users may encounter the following error message:

"An unexpected error occurred while printing the file."

This issue occurs even though printing from other applications (such as Preview or PDFGear) works fine.

Affected Versions:

  • Foxit PDF Editor for Mac (Perpetual Release | Version 13.1.6.63007)
  • MacOS Version: 15.3.1

In many cases, the issue is caused by Foxit PDF Editor not recognizing a default printer. Follow these steps to resolve it:

  1. Open a PDF in Foxit PDF Editor.
  2. Click on File → Print.
  3. In the Print dialog box, click on Properties.
  4. Select your printer from the list.
  5. Click Print to close the Properties window.
  6. Click Print again to send the job to the printer.

If no printer was selected in the Print dialog box, setting a default printer in MacOS resolves the issue.
