PDF Editor + DMS Integration

Explains how Foxit PDF Editor integrates with Foxit DMS Document Management System.

Answer

Working with PDFs in DMS

Foxit DMS supports multiple file types, but here’s how it works with your PDF workflows. From DMS, you can edit a PDF by opening the file in Editor Cloud, which will take you directly to PDF Editor Cloud.

Opening a PDF in the PDF Editor Desktop application is coming soon!

PDF Tools

In Foxit DMS, you can access quick PDF tools from the My Files tab.

O365 Files and Images: The Convert to PDF option will appear when selecting these file types.

PDFs: For PDF files, you will see additional actions such as converting to another file type, compressing, flattening, and protecting the document.

Access files in PDF EditorOpening a File from Local Computer

When opening a file from your local computer, by default, files will be saved to Foxit DMS.

Working in PDF Editor

Once you start working in the PDF Editor, you will see a tab for Foxit DMS. Here you will access some of the same tabs you see in the Foxit DMS application: My Files, Shared Files, and Envelopes.

From My Files, you can upload and create new folders, and those will automatically appear in the Foxit DMS application.

Opening a File from Foxit DMS

If you are working with an O365 file or any other file type in Foxit DMS and want to open it in the PDF Editor, you can click Open File in the Editor application and access your Foxit DMS files there as well.

PDF Collaboration

Real-time collaboration and DMS sharing are currently separate features, but we are working to make them a more seamless experience.

However, real-time collaboration can be initiated for DMS files within PDF Editor. Once enabled, those files will also appear in the PDF Collaboration tab for commenting and redlining.

Note: When using real-time PDF collaboration, collaborators will not appear in the Participants section within the DMS application.
