How to Get Your Document Notarized Online

Explains how to get a document notarized online using Foxit's e-notarization service.

Answer

NotaryLive is a remote online notary platform that makes it easy for anyone to connect to a notary instantly, 24/7. NotaryLive ensures that all notarized documents meet legal requirements without the need for in-person visits. This service is fully integrated with all Foxit eSign plans, offering users a unified and intuitive workflow.

This notary service is available to anyone in the US or internationally who requires a document to be notarized by a US notary, regardless of their citizenship.

We are the only eSign provider that offers 24/7 notary services within our platform.

How do I start the notary process in Foxit eSign?

Connecting with a notary is the same process as uploading a document and sending it out for signature.

Step 1: Upload File

Once a file is uploaded, you will get taken to the Document Sending Flow.

Step 2: Add Signers

In this step, you will need to toggle Connect with Notary to initiate the notarization process.

Once Connect with Notary is selected, enforcing signing sequence and enabling in-person signing will be deactivated. The drop down for Authentication Level will be deactivated too since the signer’s identification will be verified by the notary.

As of right now, senders who initiate the notarization process will need to be one of the signers. Facilitating a notary session for only other signers is on our roadmap.

Step 3: Review

Please review the document and make any necessary changes, such as adding/removing documents or editing/adding signers.

Step 4: Connect

This is the final step before connecting to our integration partner, NotaryLive.

Once you click on Join Session, you will be taken to NotaryLive’s webpage.

What does connecting with a notary look like?

Step 1: Add Status of Participants

For multiple signers, you will need to select if the signers are Present or Signing Separately.

Present – This is when the signers are present and in-person with you. All the present signers will start a video call on the same device as you and will meet the same notary.

Signing Separately – Signers who are not present and in-person with you will receive an email notification to start their own video call with a notary at their convenience. This will happen once you have completed the notarization process for yourself.

Step 2: Edit Docs

Here you can fill out the document using text fields and dates. This allows you to add more detail to the document before connecting with a notary and signing.

Each signer in the notarization process will see this section so that they can add their corresponding details and information to the document.

Step 3: Hardware Check

NotaryLive will make sure your camera and microphone are working. Please give it access so that the notary can see and hear you.

Step 4: Payment

As the sender who initiates the notary session, you will pay through our integration with NotaryLive.

One session is $25. Each additional signer is $5.

If any signers are labeled as “Signing Separately,” they will be prompted to pay $25 for their notary session. Since they are signing the same document at a different time with a different notary, an additional notary session is created.

Step 5: Verify Identity

Here you will upload an image of your state ID, Driver’s License or Passport.

Then you will be asked to confirm the details on your identification you’ve just uploaded. After that, you will be asked 5 questions that are personally known to you.

Step 6: Video Session with Notary

You will now join the video call with a notary. Here the notary will verify that you are the same person as the uploaded identification. The notary will witness you sign the document then add their notary seal.

How can I see the status of the other signers?

Once you’re done with the video call, NotaryLive will show you a button that says Foxit eSign. When you click on that button, you will get taken back to Foxit. There you will see the status of the other signers.

At any time, you can return to the Documents tab in Foxit to view the document's status.

Where can I download my notarized document?

Once you complete the session, you can download the notarized document by clicking on the blue file name.

You can also return to Foxit eSign to download and manage the document there.
