How to deactivate licenses purchased from reseller/distributor

Explains how to deactivate a Foxit license that was purchased through a reseller or distributor.

Answer

Support for Foxit PDF Editor v11 and v12 has been discontinued as of August 13, 2025. Upgrade to v14 to continue receiving support.

 

As a reseller or distributor, you may encounter situations where end users need to deactivate devices but there is no access to their previous devices. This guide offers instructions to assist end users under these situations.

1. Perpetual licenses for Ver11 and lower:

If the end user's perpetual license is for Ver11 or a lower version and they cannot access the previous device, please submit a Case here

2. Perpetual licenses Ver12 and higher

For version 12 or higher licenses, end users can log in to the Foxit website using the Foxit account registered with the order's "Ship To" email. Once logged in, they can deactivate the license directly on Foxit website by referring to the section"Solution 1: Deactivate license on Foxit Website (For Foxit PDF Editor-Windows Version 12.0 and greater; Foxit PDF Editor-macOS Version 12.0 and greater). Note: If the end user cannot find the corresponding license ID under Management > Device Management > Activate via keycode, it is likely that the "Ship To" email linked to the order does not match the login email. Resellers or distributors should contact Foxit Support and provide:

  • The order number.
  • The correct "Ship To" email for the end user.

Once updated, the end user can follow the steps above to deactivate the license on the Foxit website.

 

 

3. Perpetual licenses managed in the admin console

4. Subscription licenses
For subscription licenses that include Foxit PDF Editor without Admin console,Foxit PDF Editor+ without Admin console, Foxit PDF Editor with Admin console and Foxit PDF Editor + with Admin console, if the license has been installed on a new computer without deactivation from the old one, the user may see a prompt stating that the license has reached the maximum number of activation. In this case, they can click here on the window to remove the old device as the screenshot.
