Fix Garbled Text After OCR in Foxit PDF Editor

Provides a fix for garbled text appearing after running OCR Recognize Text on scanned documents in Foxit PDF Editor.

Answer

Starting with the subscription version V2025.2.0 and the perpetual license version V14.0 of Foxit PDF Editor, the Recognize Text functionality (OCR feature) has been greatly enhanced with embedded font technology. This improvement allows the OCR module to accurately extract character outlines from the original scanned document, recognize them as editable text, and seamlessly reintegrate them into the document. Consequently, the OCR output closely resembles the appearance of the original scanned text.

If you are still using a version earlier than V2025.2.0 or V14.0, we recommend upgrading to the latest subscription version or perpetual license version. After upgrading, please ensure the following default settings have not been altered:

1.Navigate to "File" > "Preferences" > "Text Recognition".
2.Ensure the "Use Available System Font" option is unchecked. If this option is checked, uncheck it and click OK to save the settings.

Note: If the "Use Available System Font" option is checked, the OCR module will use a system font available on your computer when converting images to text, resulting in behavior similar to older versions of the OCR functionality. This may cause garbled text after OCR processing. By unchecking this option, a synthesized font will be used instead, ensuring accurate text recognition and preventing garbled text issues.
