Fix FoxitPDFReaderBrowserAx Printing Error

Explains how to resolve the FoxitPDFReaderBrowserAx error that occurs when printing a PDF from an application running inside Internet Explorer with Foxit PDF Reader.

Answer

Introduction:
If you encounter the error message "FoxitPDFReaderBrowserAx" when trying to print from an application running on Internet Explorer, know that this issue typically stems from a conflict between the "IE browser plugin" used by the Foxit PDF Reader and the "ocx" module invoked in your IE webpage. To address this, we present two effective solutions:

Solution 1: Rename the "IE Browser Plugin" Files:

1:Navigate to the default installation directory of the Foxit PDF Reader, typically found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Reader\plugins.

2:Locate the files named FoxitPDFReaderBrowserAx.dll and FoxitPDFReaderBrowserAx64.dll.

3:Rename these files. For example, you could rename them as FoxitPDFReaderBrowserAx1.dll and FoxitPDFReaderBrowserAx641.dll.

Solution 2: Disable the "Include Browser When Setting Default PDF Viewer" Option in Foxit PDF Reader:

1:Open the Foxit Advanced PDF Reader and navigate to the File tab, then go to Preferences > File Associations > Advanced.

2:Deselect the "Include browser when setting default PDF viewer" option and click "OK" to close the Advanced dialog box. Then, click on the "Make Default PDF Viewer" button, which is located under the "Advanced" button. Finally, click on "OK" in the preference dialog box to save this change.

By implementing either of the above solutions, you should be able to print a PDF file from your internal web systems using the IE web browser without encountering the FoxitPDFReaderBrowserAx error.

Note: We recommend reverting to the initial settings of the Foxit PDF Reader once you no longer need to use your internal web system to print PDF files.
