Display PDF File Names in Foxit Title Bar

Explains how to configure Foxit PDF Editor or Reader to always show the file name, rather than the document title, in the title bar.

Answer

Support for Foxit PDF Editor v11 and v12 has been discontinued as of August 13, 2025. Upgrade to v14 to continue receiving support.

You may find that when opening a pdf file, the name shown in the top title bar is different from its document name, this could be because the file you opened has a title name set. Please follow the steps below to have Foxit PDF Editor/Foxit PDF Reader always display the PDF filename itself in the top title bar, instead of the file's title name:
1:Go to the File tab in Foxit PDF Editor/Foxit PDF Reader > click on Preferences option to bring up the Preferences dialog box.
2:In the Preferences dialog box, please click on the Documents option, check the option "Always use filename as document title", click on OK to save the setting.

3:Now please restart your Foxit PDF Editor/Foxit PDF Reader to open a PDF file again, you will find that its document file name will be displayed on the top of the window.

Note, the "Always use filename as document title" option is available starting from version V12.1.
