Create Custom Reasons for Digital ID Signature (Sign & Certify)

Explains how to create custom reasons for signing or certifying a document with a Digital ID signature in Foxit PDF Editor.

Users or Admins can create and/or deploy custom reasons for signing when using Sign & Certify for Digital ID signatures in the Foxit PDF Editor.

Admin Process

Admins can deploy custom reasons for Sign & Certify through the Foxit Customization Wizard. In the Registry Editor, custom reasons for Sign & Certify are added under the following location:
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Editor\Continuous\Signature\cReasons

If you would like to deploy through the Customization Wizard, please navigate to:

  1. Registry > HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Foxit Software > Foxit PDF Editor > Continuous
  2. Admins will need to right-click to create a new folder called Signature
  3. Under Signature, create a new folder called “cReasons”
  4. Here, Admins can add reasons starting with the Names t0, t1, t2, etc.
  5. Type will be REG_SZ
  6. Data will be the custom reason for signing that displays in the dropdown menu

End User Process

When placing the Digital ID signature through Sign & Certify, users can type into the “Reason” text field to add their own custom reason for signing. Custom reasons will stay saved on the user’s device in the dropdown menu for future uses.
