Audit Trail in Foxit DMS (Document Management System)

Explains how the audit trail feature works in Foxit DMS (Document Management System).

Answer

This article explains how Audit Trail (Activity Logs) in Foxit DMS helps you track actions performed on files, folders, and templates.

View Activity Logs

You can view activity logs for a file, folder, or template from the Activity tab in the Details view. Logs are displayed in chronological order, showing the history of actions performed on the selected item.

What Information is Captured

Each log entry includes:

  • The user who performed the action
  • The action details
  • The date and time stamp

Tracked activities include:

  • File, folder, and template creation
  • Rename, move,duplication, and deletion
  • Sharing and permission changes
  • Metadata and tag updates
  • Version-related actions (e.g., upload, restore)
  • Download and access-related actions
  • Retention and lifecycle actions (e.g., archive)

Export Activity Logs

Activity logs can be exported in the following formats: PDF, CSV, and XLSX.

Notes

  • Activity logs are system-generated and cannot be edited.
  • Activity logs reflect historical actions and cannot be modified.
  • Deleting a file, folder, or template will also remove its associated activity logs.
